So, when can you put a baby in a baby swing?
I understand as a parent; you are so desperate to know it. It is because when there is anything related to our babies, we become so conscious. And we want to ensure the best thing for our children. That is why, when it comes to an infant swing, we want to know the appropriate age of using it for our little one.
I think you should know that there is nothing better than a mom’s lap for a baby. But cradling baby all the time by our hand seems to be impossible. And sometimes we need to take some rest too. That is why we need a baby swing.
The thing you will love to know that whoever has invented the swing for babies, he always kept mom on his mind while making it that also ensures the baby’s safety. A compact swing always minimizes the mom’s load, especially if you are the new mom. It takes all the responsibility to soothe a baby. And moms can have a seat and watch baby cradling.
Well, the perfect time to put a baby in a baby swing is when your little one can hold up his/her head and don’t move much, you can put him/her in Or if the infant is three weeks old or above, you can put him in too.
It will give your baby a cozy feeling when swinging. Even more, the vibration of the swing will keep him/her calm and relaxed. As most of the baby swings come with hanging toys and music, these features will help to develop baby’s motor skills and listening ability. And in terms of child safety, make sure it comes with a 5 point harness. It will hold your baby tight and prevent falling.
When to stop using a baby swing?
When your baby is six to seven months old, you should stop putting baby on the swing though it looks so early. It is just because at the age of seven months, the little one will have more exercise to do, and he has to do it on the floor. He will start crawling or learning to walk at that age.
Even more, he will be playing with his toys sitting on the floor. These physical activities will help him to grow up and strengthen his body muscle. So, you shouldn’t put your baby in the swing after seven months old.
Precautions while using a baby swing
Remember, anything excessive is not good for anyone. So, don’t leave your child for too long in the swing. It can do some possible damage to your little one. The American Academy of Pediatrics updated content about SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) and other sleep-related infant deaths in 2016 that indicates sitting upright for a considerable amount of time can make it difficult for infants to breathe well and that can lead to sudden infant death.
That is why; I suggest you not let your infant sleep in the swing for the whole night or for a long time. But it doesn’t mean using a baby swing is unsafe. It is just that you shouldn’t have any unawareness and make you conscious about the good and bad sides of an infant swing.
Furthermore, most of the baby swings are 30 to 45 degrees vertical. But keep in mind, it is not appropriate for the infant. A baby over 3 months old can use them with perfection. But when you purchase a swing for an infant, make sure it is a more flat position so that the little one can lay down properly.
Additionally, you should always supervise your child using a swing. Before putting babies in the swing, always check it first. Don’t exceed the weight limit of a baby swing. It may break and the little one can get injured. Another important thing is that check the straps well because it will tie up your baby but make sure they don’t block the baby’s airway.
